New Mount Rainier Robotics Center Empowers Young Engineers<\/h1>\n<\/header>\n

A new camp in Mount Rainier is teaching elementary school-aged kids about robotics.<\/p>\n

Located at 2112 Varnum St. NE,\u00a0Brooklyn Robot Foundry<\/a>\u00a0offers everything from\u00a0after-school classes<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0summer day camps<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0birthday parties<\/a>\u00a0to teach kids about the basics of electronics.<\/p>\n

Owner Mike Chaney worked in IT program and project management for years before deciding to open the camp, which is one of\u00a016 locations<\/a>\u00a0for the New York-based company.<\/p>\n

Aimed at first through fifth graders, the camp features lots of outdoor time, breaks and snacks.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach day we cover a series of \u2018rules\u2019 related to social-emotional engagement, conduct a lesson on circuits, build a circuit, construct a robot, and then decorate it,\u201d Chaney told the Hyattsville Wire. \u201cOur campers take home their creation each day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Summer camp at Brooklyn Robot Foundry runs on Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with optional extended care until 5:30 p.m. Day camps are also offered during the school year on select days when classes are out.<\/p>\n
